PYRO YEAH by Littlelinky PYRO YEAH by Littlelinky
URGGHHHHFFFF
I LOVE THIS PHOTO
NOT JUST BECAUSE IT HIDES MY FACE

After attending 2010's October MCM Expo in London, I think it's safe to say that I had an awesome time. I cosplayed RED Pyro on Friday and Saturday, and RED Scout on Sunday.

I'm glad that people seemed to like my RED Pyro cosplay. I put good effort into my props and all, even if I don't have the right boots and the 'burn' effect on my legs, I still think it's cool.
I really like my axtinguisher and my respectless not-so-rubber glove. I'm surprised that my tank survived the few bashes and things that it got, too. You could even turn the valve handle on the side, there.
But GOD, my feet hurt like hell, and that gas mask was a pain to wear. My condensed breath kept dripping out of the filter, for Saxton's sake.
The thing attached to my glove hat was a small, plush Medic bubble pin... thing that I made.
I even had a poppy, too! (Thanks, Engi!)

I only managed to take a PITIFUL, SINGLE PHOTO through the ENTIRE 3 days at Expo. How shameful. I think it was of some Assassin's Creed people.
But I wanted to upload this, anyway.
And I wanted to thank awesome Expo people.
You know who you are. SO MANY TO LIST.

Credit to the lovely photographer who took this, too. Thanks so much!

;v; Oohhh thank you soooo so much! ~<3

I was lucky enough to buy the mask with already tinted lenses, but it's easy to see that they just stuck some window tint over the lenses to make them dark. I don't know if that will help at all ;n; but some people also use stained glass paint to darken them a little bit..!
Also the suit I just bought off of Amazon due to the lack of time and money I had to spend, haha ;A; If you search for boiler suits/coveralls you'll be able to find one but if you want to sew one, best of luck!

Oh! They were some Timberland boots that I ordered off of their website. They set me back a lot of money, though! I only wore them because I had them handy. D:
You can probably find a whole bunch of military boots that look similar on eBay, though!

I noticed you can't see your eyes. Did you tint the lenses? I'm having trouble finding something appropriate.

Luckily for me, I bought the gas mask with the lenses already tinted. Upon closer inspection, though, it's really clear that all they've done is stick some dark window tint/film over them. I'm sure that you can buy the stuff, somewhere! <3

The red overalls? I just bought a red boiler suit/coveralls from Amazon and put the class logos on the sleeves with iron-on transfer. :)
If you (or your brother!) needs any help with anything, though, I'm always willing to lend a hand. <3

Thank you!
The gas mask I bought came with blacked out eyes--I think some one-way tinted glass film was stuck on the eyes.

Oh, I keep coming back to this Cosplay because I love it so.

I did have a question though, do you have a pattern for the Respectless Rubber Glove? It's awesome and I'd love to have a stab at making one as a gift for a friend.

Aww, wow, thank you so much! <3

Ah, I try to keep every pattern that I make, so I'll try and find it again for you. I think it might be on my other computer, which is dead, but I'll look. <3
And if not, I can just make another one from the hat itself.
I tell you what though, it's a weird pattern! It doesn't look like a wearable glove at all. XD

I was brainstorming about how it would look and I have to say everything I came up with looked incredibly weird. Gotta love the Rubber Glove!

Thanks so much for this cosplay + info. Considering going to a convention here in the states as Pyro. I had the same idea of the 3L soda bottles for the tank, glad to see it can turn out so well. Still wondering what to do about the boiler suit. Here in the US they're non-existent in red, and while I've found a few on Ebay from the UK, the shipping is almost as much as the item.
How did you cover your neck, a turtleneck?

I'm glad that you approve!
The 3L bottles were worth chugging down all that soda. The tank took a while to make (mainly trying to get it to attach to my back securely so that I could move about freely without having to worry), but it came out well.
Hmm, I remember getting my suit from Amazon, and I've just checked Amazon.com--there's some red coveralls on there, and a few on eBay (US). I'm very surprised that you can't find any red ones, but maybe it's because over here we call them 'boiler suits' instead of 'coveralls'. But hey, you might have already looked or known that.
My neck is covered by a black balaclava that I wore. It was mainly to make wearing the mask more comfortable, and to cover the back of my head and neck. Plus, it got some of the typical Spy jokes.
I'm really wishing you the best of luck with this! And if you have any more questions, don't be afraid to ask. <3

May I have advice on how you did that? I'm hoping to do a Pyro cosplay :)
Was it fairly cheep? How did you make the cans on the strap across the chest? What's the fire hydrant made of?

Of course!
I went in thinking that the whole thing was going to be ruddy expensive and very time-consuming.
It did end up being time-consuming (but mostly because spray painting and bad weather are a no-no), but surprisingly, it wasn't that expensive. I had some of the materials already laying around the house.
The cans across the chest are made of toilet paper tubes (shh!), orange paper, and silver duct tape. I then covered them with a clear film to make 'em shiny. They're nice and lightweight. I'd found an old belt thing, shortened it, and attached the cans very cheaply to it with LOTS of tape that you can't see.
The tank is made out of 2 3-litre bottles, covered and spraypainted with the yellow, silver and grey. The smaller tank at the side I made with two small shampoo bottles, covered and again painted. Extra stuff I got for them was the pressure gauge on top of the main tank, and a gate valve handle at the bottom of the smaller tank. Mind you, I had to saw off that silly handle!

If I'm not being too clear or you need any more help, don't hesitate to ask~!

The jumpsuit I just remembered was a boiler suit--I got mine from Amazon, but I'm sure there are stores around that have them--those kind of DIY stores, maybe?
The gas mask I got off of eBay, since I thought it would have been almost impossible anywhere else. But, if you have army surplus stores around, you'll find some gas masks, I expect! The one I find closest to the Pyro's is a Russian gask mask.

But best of luck, truly!
It'll be nice to have another Pybro! <3

I think they are actually rubber! But they're not incredibly shiny.
They were just some plain ol' heavy duty rubber gloves bought off of Amazon (cheap too), and I spray-painted the edges yellow. Should have done gold, but... never mind. <3
